Our Story

A-One Refrigeration & Heating was founded in 1980 by Alfred (Al) and Carol Hagen with a mission to “always do the right thing.” After moving to the Tri-Cities area, we quickly expanded, but the mission remained; in fact, the motto was carried through every decision the Hagen’s made – whether in life or in business.

Owner, Kyle Hagen, explains the business this way, “He would always give back to the community and his family. The days were long and hot, and often times we wouldn’t see Dad for days, as he would leave for work before we were awake and wouldn’t return until we went to sleep. Our parents spent a lot of time caring for family and friends. We would spend our summers out on the lake or river with our grandpa, which were some of the greatest memories.”

A-One Refrigeration & Heating grew quickly to 10-12 employees performing service on appliances, air conditioning, and heating systems – in residential homes and commercial heating and cooling systems. “Commercial refrigeration was my Dad’s favorite. He was quick at diagnosing and always had a fix,” says Kyle. As we evolved and the economy changed, the company stabilized to 4-6 full-time positions, with Al doing a majority of the work and Carol handling customer calls and dispatching work orders with a voice pager.
